Tunesday Tuesday: The Black Keys September 30 2014

The Black Keys never fail to put on an awesome show. I have seen them a few times at various music festivals, but never a full concert. I couldn't have been more excited when I saw that The Black Keys were playing at Barclays Center AND Cage The Elephant was opening for them. I've been to Barclays Center for a Mumford and Sons concert which was also AMAZING. It's a great venue for concerts and I recommend anyone who has the chance to go, GO!

The Black Keys are definitely one of those bands you need to go see live if you like this type of music. I don't think I stopped dancing once... and then they ended the night with my favorite song, Little Black Submarine, which made the night complete. Great venue, awesome music, and my best friend!

Valentine's Day Tunes February 10 2014

Valentine's Day has always been a fun day for me, because I love love! No matter what the relationship, it's an amazing thing to acknowledge and appreciate it. One thing I've learned over the years is to especially appreciate the relationship you have with yourself - love yourself then love others.

Music is the great mood setter. I put together a few songs of light rock and reggae that would be my love playlist. There's got to be at least one or two that everyone can get into for your romantic night!

NIN October 21 2013

I stand by my statement in my last Tunesday Tuesday post - wandering into new music can be the best experience you have. Most know of Nine Inch Nails, but those of you who haven't been immersed in the heat of the moment while blasting "Terrible Lie," you may feel your inner demons surface very quickly.

I was at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY for Tension 2013, my first time seeing Nine Inch Nails in the flesh, and I was completely blown away. Amazing distinctive lighting with cage-like grids matching their industrial sound would take anyone on a trip.

I was mesmerized. Every lighting scenario was more electrifying than the last.

They have a way of igniting all senses. And with a dark sensuality to their sound, most of my fellow female Nine Inch Nail fans will agree that any show of theirs will make for an interesting date... to say the least! It was my first venture to Barclays as well, an easy trip for a Long Islander for an impressive night.

I wore a new piece of ours, the Royal Blue Leaf Bracelet stacked with pieces of the Boho Mixed Bangles that ended up coordinating with some of their cool blues. These bangles are pretty, but can still be edgy when putting the right combos together and I wore them with dark colors, perfect for a show like this.

Band Tees September 24 2013

It's funny how you can feel so free in a crowd of people. There's something about being at a show. It brings you away from your "real world", even if it's just for a moment when you immerse yourself in a song. You're typically confined in a group, hot and tired, with everyone mouthing the same lyrics... and yet you feel individual. Good music can take you there, losing yourself within four walls.

I try to keep my mind open to any music, because discovering a new sound that you like is one of the best things that can happen. And when it comes to shows, there's not much I won't go for. Of course I have my preference...

Accessorizing with a band tee is one of my favorites. I love how the art of screen print allows you to wear your heart, and say what you want to say... and show off where you've been! I put on our Snake Print Geo Necklace and stacked our black bracelets and Stud Watch to bring out my rocker chic. The Gold Spike Necklace is also perfect for this look.

Conclusion: A venue is just about the only place to live free within walls. Rock doesn't have to be pretty or trendy, say what you want! And rule #1 is never get rid of your band tees. (Rule #1.5, don't wear the band you're seeing...)

Music behind the tees:

This week I'll be seeing Big D and the Kids Table, stay tuned!
